Sometimes it can be really challenging to have compassion for someone, who is angry or suffering. Being empathetic, and putting yourself in their shoes, can really take some practice too.
I often talk about the importance of being able to identify our feelings, so that we can get to what’s underneath. Conflict only arises when our needs are not being met.
Here is a film of Marshall Rosenberg, talking about empathy, and his experience of dealing with conflict, using Non Violent Communication. (just under 10 minutes)
This 2nd film is called The Charter for Compassion. (2 mins) I hope both these films will inspire you. Please do share them with others.
I have my own Award winning, online, Vegan health and wellness business which I work part time around my acting/therapy work and life. In a nutshell, I get paid to shower and show others how to do the same! My business offers a solution for anyone who needs more money, or more time to do the things that they feel passionate about and to be with the people they love.
I spent over 10 years as a professional actress, and worked in TV, Radio and Theatre (including the National Theatre).
I became a Voice-Over Artist in 1994. In 2009 BBC screened a 16 part animated series I voiced, called Funky Fables
I love having variety in my life, It's important for me to satisfy different aspects of myself and by doing this I feel it adds to everything I do.
I feel very privileged to work as a therapist. It's enormously rewarding for me to make a difference to people, so that they can 'move on' and enjoy life.
Really inspiring, clear, concise and practical.. A great practice to take on when in conflict ..
What are my /his/her needs? I am taking in on in my life this week.

Thanks for sharing these videos. I think we have to always make certain that we are managing our relationships and ourselves in a way that we believe in and could be proud of. I think we also have to always be aware of the type of energy we are bringing to any situation and when we handle things with patience and grace that is usually what we can manage to get in return.
