The other day someone asked me for some help with their habit of Procrastinating.  I decided to go to  Wikipedia and see what it had to say about Procrastination. Here is Wikipedias definition:-

Procrastination refers to the counterproductive deferment of actions or tasks to a later time. Psychologists often cite such behavior as a mechanism for coping with the anxietyassociated with starting or completing any task or decision.

[1] There are three criteria for a behavior to be classified as procrastination: it must be counterproductive, needless, and delaying.[2]

Procrastination may result in stress, a sense of guilt and crisis, severe loss of personal productivity, as well as societal disapproval for not meeting responsibilities or commitments. These feelings combined may promote further procrastination. While it is regarded as normal for people to procrastinate to some degree, it becomes a problem when it impedes normal functioning. Chronic procrastination may be a sign of an underlying psychological disorder.

The important thing to be aware of, is that although your conscious mind may not want you to procrastinate, your unconscious mind believes ‘procrastinating’ is a good thing. Why? because if you procrastinate, you don’t have to take action; which could lead to a possible ‘mistake’ or ‘failure’, unhappiness, and regret.

If you have a habit of procrastinating, I invite you to take some time, to see what you might be getting out of that behaviour. There is nothing wrong with procrastinating, but if you want to be fulfilled and achieve your dreams, it will probably get in the way. It is okay to have some fear around change, but it is also possible to work through it if you choose to.

I have made a little film to help you. Below you can see me  demonstrating how you can use EFT, a simple tapping technique, to help you let go of procrastinating. Why not try the technique when you feel ‘stuck’. I’d love to  know how you get on, so please do  leave me  a comment below.
