The other day someone asked me for some help with their habit of Procrastinating. I decided to go to Wikipedia and see what it had to say about Procrastination. Here is Wikipedias definition:-
Procrastination refers to the counterproductive deferment of actions or tasks to a later time. Psychologists often cite such behavior as a mechanism for coping with the anxietyassociated with starting or completing any task or decision. Procrastination may result in stress, a sense of guilt and crisis, severe loss of personal productivity, as well as societal disapproval for not meeting responsibilities or commitments. These feelings combined may promote further procrastination. While it is regarded as normal for people to procrastinate to some degree, it becomes a problem when it impedes normal functioning. Chronic procrastination may be a sign of an underlying psychological disorder. The important thing to be aware of, is that although your conscious mind may not want you to procrastinate, your unconscious mind believes ‘procrastinating’ is a good thing. Why? because if you procrastinate, you don’t have to take action; which could lead to a possible ‘mistake’ or ‘failure’, unhappiness, and regret. If you have a habit of procrastinating, I invite you to take some time, to see what you might be getting out of that behaviour. There is nothing wrong with procrastinating, but if you want to be fulfilled and achieve your dreams, it will probably get in the way. It is okay to have some fear around change, but it is also possible to work through it if you choose to. I have made a little film to help you. Below you can see me demonstrating how you can use EFT, a simple tapping technique, to help you let go of procrastinating. Why not try the technique when you feel ‘stuck’. I’d love to know how you get on, so please do leave me a comment below. Speak soon ….
That was Fabulous Julie!
First let me say you look Radiant, I love the sun room & the colors in your video, very soothing. Was that an oxymoron? anyway I hope ya know what I mean.
The Wikipedia definition sounded scary, thankfully I don’t need a shrink since I’m like a flea on a dog when helping others–I jump right on board! It’s when I come up with new ideas that I tend to put off until I feel comfortable in my mind with the follow thru to proceed.
I think I should trust my gut instinct & not second guess myself so much, cause everything always works out anyway.
I believe using your EFT with positive affirmations will help me over come this hickup in my life. LoL, besides I love the tingly feeling I get after the EFT.
Thank You again, great video!!
xoxo
Hi Julie,
After sitting in front of my computer for 3 days trying to get on top of my mountain of work, I finally recognised enough was enough and so decided to do some research into procrastination. Ironically, my procrastination lead me to your website.
I’ve tried EFT just the once but I didn’t perceive any positive changes in mood or behaviour, however your video had a profound emotional releasing effect on me.
For the first time, I feel really optimistic about dealing with procrastination and I am really grateful you shared this with us. I will definitely be signing up to your website and I look forward to more of your pearls of wisdom.
Thank you Julie!!
