They say that ‘9 out of 10 marriages fail after the death of a child’.
Fiona Mclarty was happily married to her husband Imran. She had a great job working with him at Landmark Education. In 2002 her dreams were shattered. Today I talk to Fiona Mclarty about her experience of losing her son, and the impact on her relationship with Imran.
Fiona really illustrates how it is possible for a couple to go through, what could be described as ‘a parents worst nightmare’ and come through it feeling healed. Do listen to this extraordinary interview….

Fiona has asked me to include a video of her friends Karen, Shane and Sierra. Like her baby boy, Sierra was starved of oxygen at birth and as a consequence has Cerebral Palsey. Karen and Shane are looking to raise money for Sierra’s treatment. Please do take a look, and if you can, contribute something:

I have my own Award winning, online, Vegan health and wellness business which I work part time around my acting/therapy work and life. In a nutshell, I get paid to shower and show others how to do the same! My business offers a solution for anyone who needs more money, or more time to do the things that they feel passionate about and to be with the people they love.
I spent over 10 years as a professional actress, and worked in TV, Radio and Theatre (including the National Theatre).
I became a Voice-Over Artist in 1994. In 2009 BBC screened a 16 part animated series I voiced, called Funky Fables
I love having variety in my life, It's important for me to satisfy different aspects of myself and by doing this I feel it adds to everything I do.
I feel very privileged to work as a therapist. It's enormously rewarding for me to make a difference to people, so that they can 'move on' and enjoy life.
An extraordinarily moving and powerful interview. Fiona speaks with such clarity, and even peace, about a desperately tragic event, and I am left inspired by what is possible in the face of even the worst imaginable circumstances. I am touched by the emotion of what happened and yet the absence of drama. Very profound Fiona and a real contribution to others.
