Like it or not Christmas is coming…. the question is are you going to enjoy the build up and beyond, or are you going to be running round like a headless turkey, trying to get everything ‘perfect’ and end up ‘stuffing’ yourself??

I strongly recommend that you accept the inevitable and do your best to enjoy the whole experience. Here are some tips to help you make the most of it.

Prioritise….do things in order of importance. Even if you don’t manage to get through your ‘to do’ list, do what you can. Be a human being not a ‘human doing’.

Say No where appropriate.…

The problem with saying Yes to please others is that people then expect us to say yes. It’s fine to say No. There is nothing worse than saying Yes and then resenting it. Say Yes when you can do things willingly and with love.

Take 10 minutes for yourself every day.

Stop putting yourself at the bottom of the pile or being a martyr….

If you put yourself last you will be modeling that example for your children
Schedule in 10 minutes for yourself everyday. EVERYONE can find 10 minutes out of 24 hours…even you!

Sit quietly with a cup of tea and take stock

recharge with your feet up

why not enjoy some relaxing music

Be kind to yourself…

When the voice in your head says something unkind, just notice it and ‘park it’, if you don’t engage with it and get into a dialogue with it, it will lose it’s grip. Focus instead, on what you do want, because ‘what you think about you bring about’.

Make sure you have ‘Positive Input’…..

Read literature that inspires you and watch or listen to programmes that make you feel good.

Here are some things you can do in 10 minutes or less

Smile – it releases lots of endorphins and will make you feel good and possibly make someone elses’s day too – less than 1 min

Cuddle someone or something – anything from 30 seconds

Dance to a piece of music – 3 mins

Read a few pages of an inspiring book – 5 to 10 mins
