I used to have a really unhealthy relationship to food and myself. In fact, I used to be bulimic.  It took me years to figure out that using food as a coping mechanism really didn’t address the core problem and only made me feel worse about myself.  Anyone relate?  

The problem with food is that, unlike drugs, food is readily available everywhere, and we have to eat!  

I went down the diet route, in fact I tried every diet I could get my hands on (including the Bacon & Egg diet and the Cheese & Raisin diet!)  Then I resorted to bingeing and using laxatives.  It was really only when the dog discovered the Exlax in my coat pocket (and practically turned himself inside out in the garden) that my mum asked me if I was okay.    Although I didn’t admit at the time what was really going on, I realised that something had to change.

Being trapped in a cycle of shame, guilt and frustration and hating yourself, is no way to live.

When I decided to ditch the dieting, change my habits and start to accept myself and find ways to nourish me (body mind and skin)  everything changed, and what’s more, it can for you too! 

I am so happy that I never count calories, starve myself or say no to an ice cream or chocolate if I feel like it.  I have a great relationship with food and age 65, I am very happy in my own skin.
