Do you take the time to switch off and let go?

With so many distractions and demands on our time, sometimes the only way to ‘take time out’ is to literally schedule it it the diary.

If you’re someone who regularly says,  “I don’t have time for me!”,  I invite you to ask yourself this question,  “How can I carve out some time for me?”

We ALL have 24 hours in the day so it’s really a question of priorities.  Some people don’t consider themselves a priority and that’s where the problem lies. Problem, what problem is that? you may ask!

The Stress caused by pushing yourself and not relaxing and unwinding can have several negative effects on your overall wellbeing such as…..

• Detrimental effects on your physical health, mental well-being, and overall quality of life. It can contribute to various health issues like heart disease, weakened immune system, anxiety, and depression

• Risk of burnout, (which is a state of physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion caused by prolonged stress and overwork). Burnout can lead to decreased productivity, lack of motivation, and feelings of cynicism and detachment.

• Productivity and creativity may suffer. Continuous work without downtime can lead to decreased focus, diminished problem-solving abilities, and difficulty generating new ideas.

• Strained relationships: Neglecting to relax and unwind can result in increased irritability, impatience, and reduced emotional availability in your relationships. When you are constantly stressed and overwhelmed, it can be challenging to be present and engage fully with loved ones. This can strain relationships and hinder meaningful connections.

• Quality of life suffers. Neglecting activities that bring you joy, can result in feelings of dissatisfaction, unhappiness, and a sense of imbalance.

Prioritising time for yourself sends a message that your needs matter. It’s also a proven fact that self care can boost your self esteem and reinforce our sense of self worth.
